¹Ho, everyone who thirsts,
  come to the waters;
 and you that have no money,
  come, buy and eat!
 Come, buy wine and milk
  without money and without price.
 ²Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
  and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
 Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good,
  and delight yourselves in rich food.
 ³Incline your ear, and come to me;
  listen, so that you may live.
 I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
  my steadfast, sure love for David.
 ⁴See, I made him a witness to the peoples,
  a leader and commander for the peoples.
 ⁵See, you shall call nations that you do not know,
  and nations that do not know you shall run to you,
 because of the Lord your God, the Holy One of Israel,
  for he has glorified you.

⁸The Lord is gracious and full of compassion,
  slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
 ⁹Lord, you are good to all,
  and your compassion is over all your works. 
 ¹⁴The Lord upholds all those who fall
  and lifts up those who are bowed down.
 ¹⁵The eyes of all wait upon you, O Lord,
  and you give them their food in due season.
 ¹⁶You open wide your hand
  and satisfy the desire of every living thing.
 ¹⁷You are righteous in all your ways
  and loving in all your works. 
 ¹⁸You are near to all who call upon you,
  to all who call upon you faithfully.
 ¹⁹You fulfill the desire of those who fear you;
  you hear their cry and save them.
 ²⁰You watch over all those who love you,
  but all the wicked you shall destroy.
 ²¹My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord;
  let all flesh bless God’s holy name forever and ever.

¹I am speaking the truth in Christ—I am not lying; my conscience confirms it by the Holy Spirit—²I have great sorrow and unceasing anguish in my heart. ³For I could wish that I myself were accursed and cut off from Christ for the sake of my own people, my kindred according to the flesh. ⁴They are Israelites, and to them belong the adoption, the glory, the covenants, the giving of the law, the worship, and the promises; ⁵to them belong the patriarchs, and from them, according to the flesh, comes the Messiah, who is over all, God blessed forever. Amen.

¹³Now when Jesus heard [about the beheading of John the Baptist], he withdrew from there in a boat to a deserted place by himself. But when the crowds heard it, they followed him on foot from the towns. ¹⁴When he went ashore, he saw a great crowd; and he had compassion for them and cured their sick. ¹⁵When it was evening, the disciples came to him and said, “This is a deserted place, and the hour is now late; send the crowds away so that they may go into the villages and buy food for themselves.” ¹⁶Jesus said to them, “They need not go away; you give them something to eat.” ¹⁷They replied, “We have nothing here but five loaves and two fish.” ¹⁸And he said, “Bring them here to me.” ¹⁹Then he ordered the crowds to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the crowds. ²⁰And all ate and were filled; and they took up what was left over of the broken pieces, twelve baskets full. ²¹And those who ate were about five thousand men, besides women and children.

¹³ Cuando Jesús recibió la noticia, se retiró él solo en una barca a un lugar solitario. Las multitudes se enteraron y lo siguieron a pie desde los poblados. ¹⁴ Cuando Jesús desembarcó y vio a tanta gente, tuvo compasión de ellos y sanó a los que estaban enfermos.

—Este es un lugar apartado y ya se hace tarde. Despide a la gente, para que vayan a los pueblos y se compren algo de comer.

¹⁶ —No tienen que irse —contestó Jesús—. Denles ustedes mismos de comer.

—No tenemos aquí más que cinco panes y dos pescados.

¹⁸ —Tráiganmelos acá —les dijo Jesús.

⁵At Gibeon the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream by night; and God said, “Ask what I should give you.” ⁶And Solomon said, “You have shown great and steadfast love to your servant my father David, because he walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward you; and you have kept for him this great and steadfast love, and have given him a son to sit on his throne today. ⁷And now, O Lord my God, you have made your servant king in place of my father David, although I am only a little child; I do not know how to go out or come in. ⁸And your servant is in the midst of the people whom you have chosen, a great people, so numerous they cannot be numbered or counted. ⁹Give your servant therefore an understanding mind to govern your people, able to discern between good and evil; for who can govern this your great people?”
  ¹⁰It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. ¹¹God said to him, “Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches, or for the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right, ¹²I now do according to your word. Indeed I give you a wise and discerning mind; no one like you has been before you and no one like you shall arise after you.”

⁵ y allí mismo se le apareció el Señor en un sueño, y le dijo:

—Pídeme lo que quieras.

⁶ Salomón respondió:

—Tú trataste con mucho amor a tu siervo David, mi padre, pues se condujo delante de ti con lealtad y justicia, y con un corazón recto. Y, como hoy se puede ver, has reafirmado tu gran amor al concederle que un hijo suyo lo suceda en el trono.

⁷ »Ahora, Señor mi Dios, me has hecho rey en lugar de mi padre David. No soy más que un muchacho, y apenas sé cómo comportarme. ⁸ Sin embargo, aquí me tienes, un siervo tuyo en medio del pueblo que has escogido, un pueblo tan numeroso que es imposible contarlo. ⁹ Yo te ruego que le des a tu siervo discernimiento para gobernar a tu pueblo y para distinguir entre el bien y el mal. De lo contrario, ¿quién podrá gobernar a este gran pueblo tuyo?»

¹⁰ Al Señor le agradó que Salomón hubiera hecho esa petición, ¹¹ de modo que le dijo:

—Como has pedido esto, y no larga vida ni riquezas para ti, ni has pedido la muerte de tus enemigos, sino discernimiento para administrar justicia, ¹² voy a concederte lo que has pedido. Te daré un corazón sabio y prudente, como nadie antes de ti lo ha tenido ni lo tendrá después.

 ¹²⁹Your decrees are wonderful;
  therefore I obey them with all my heart.
 ¹³⁰When your word is opened it gives light;
  it gives understanding to the simple.
 ¹³¹I open my mouth and pant
  because I long for your commandments.
 ¹³²Turn to me and be gracious to me,
  as you always do to those who love your name. 
 ¹³³Order my footsteps in your word;
  let no iniquity have dominion over me.
 ¹³⁴Rescue me from those who oppress me,
  and I will keep your commandments.
 ¹³⁵Let your face shine upon your servant
  and teach me your statutes.
 ¹³⁶My eyes shed streams of tears,
  because people do not keep your teaching.

¹²⁹ Tus estatutos son maravillosos;

²⁶The Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but that very Spirit intercedes with sighs too deep for words. ²⁷And God, who searches the heart, knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God.
²⁸We know that all things work together for good for those who love God, who are called according to his purpose. ²⁹For those whom he foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, in order that he might be the firstborn within a large family. ³⁰And those whom he predestined he also called; and those whom he called he also justified; and those whom he justified he also glorified.

³¹What then are we to say about these things? If God is for us, who is against us? ³²He who did not withhold his own Son, but gave him up for all of us, will he not with him also give us everything else? ³³Who will bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. ³⁴Who is to condemn? It is Christ Jesus, who died, yes, who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us. ³⁵Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will hardship, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? ³⁶As it is written,
 “For your sake we are being killed all day long;
  we are accounted as sheep to be slaughtered.”
³⁷No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. ³⁸For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, ³⁹nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

²⁶ Así mismo, en nuestra debilidad el Espíritu acude a ayudarnos. No sabemos qué pedir, pero el Espíritu mismo intercede por nosotros con gemidos que no pueden expresarse con palabras. ²⁷ Y Dios, que examina los corazones, sabe cuál es la intención del Espíritu, porque el Espíritu intercede por los creyentes conforme a la voluntad de Dios.

²⁸ Ahora bien, sabemos que Dios dispone todas las cosas para el bien de quienes lo aman, los que han sido llamados de acuerdo con su propósito. ²⁹ Porque a los que Dios conoció de antemano, también los predestinó a ser transformados según la imagen de su Hijo, para que él sea el primogénito entre muchos hermanos. ³⁰ A los que predestinó, también los llamó; a los que llamó, también los justificó; y a los que justificó, también los glorificó.

³¹ ¿Qué diremos frente a esto? Si Dios está de nuestra parte, ¿quién puede estar en contra nuestra? ³² El que no escatimó ni a su propio Hijo, sino que lo entregó por todos nosotros, ¿cómo no habrá de darnos generosamente, junto con él, todas las cosas? ³³ ¿Quién acusará a los que Dios ha escogido? Dios es el que justifica. ³⁴ ¿Quién condenará? Cristo Jesús es el que murió, e incluso resucitó, y está a la derecha de Dios e intercede por nosotros. ³⁵ ¿Quién nos apartará del amor de Cristo? ¿La tribulación, o la angustia, la persecución, el hambre, la indigencia, el peligro, o la violencia? ³⁶ Así está escrito:

³⁷ Sin embargo, en todo esto somos más que vencedores por medio de aquel que nos amó. ³⁸ Pues estoy convencido de que ni la muerte ni la vida, ni los ángeles ni los demonios, ni lo presente ni lo por venir, ni los poderes, ³⁹ ni lo alto ni lo profundo, ni cosa alguna en toda la creación podrá apartarnos del amor que Dios nos ha manifestado en Cristo Jesús nuestro Señor.

³¹[Jesus] put before [the crowds] another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed that someone took and sowed in his field;³²it is the smallest of all the seeds, but when it has grown it is the greatest of shrubs and becomes a tree, so that the birds of the air come and make nests in its branches.”
  ³³He told them another parable: “The kingdom of heaven is like yeast that a woman took and mixed in with three measures of flour until all of it was leavened.”
  ⁴⁴“The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which someone found and hid; then in his joy he goes and sells all that he has and buys that field.
  ⁴⁵“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant in search of fine pearls; ⁴⁶on finding one pearl of great value, he went and sold all that he had and bought it.
  ⁴⁷“Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was thrown into the sea and caught fish of every kind; ⁴⁸when it was full, they drew it ashore, sat down, and put the good into baskets but threw out the bad. ⁴⁹So it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come out and separate the evil from the righteous ⁵⁰and throw them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.
  ⁵¹“Have you understood all this?” They answered, “Yes.” ⁵²And he said to them, “Therefore every scribe who has been trained for the kingdom of heaven is like the master of a household who brings out of his treasure what is new and what is old.”

³¹ Les contó otra parábola: «El reino de los cielos es como un grano de mostaza que un hombre sembró en su campo. ³² Aunque es la más pequeña de todas las semillas, cuando crece es la más grande de las hortalizas y se convierte en árbol, de modo que vienen las aves y anidan en sus ramas».

³³ Les contó otra parábola más: «El reino de los cielos es como la levadura que una mujer tomó y mezcló en una gran cantidad de harina, hasta que fermentó toda la masa».

⁴⁴ »El reino de los cielos es como un tesoro escondido en un campo. Cuando un hombre lo descubrió, lo volvió a esconder, y lleno de alegría fue y vendió todo lo que tenía y compró ese campo.

⁴⁵ »También se parece el reino de los cielos a un comerciante que andaba buscando perlas finas. ⁴⁶ Cuando encontró una de gran valor, fue y vendió todo lo que tenía y la compró.

⁴⁷ »También se parece el reino de los cielos a una red echada al lago, que recoge peces de toda clase. ⁴⁸ Cuando se llena, los pescadores la sacan a la orilla, se sientan y recogen en canastas los peces buenos, y desechan los malos. ⁴⁹ Así será al fin del mundo. Vendrán los ángeles y apartarán de los justos a los malvados, ⁵⁰ y los arrojarán al horno encendido, donde habrá llanto y rechinar de dientes.

⁵¹ —¿Han entendido todo esto? —les preguntó Jesús.

—Sí —respondieron ellos.

Entonces concluyó Jesús:

⁵² —Todo maestro de la ley que ha sido instruido acerca del reino de los cielos es como el dueño de una casa, que de lo que tiene guardado saca tesoros nuevos y viejos.

⁶Thus says the Lord, the King of Israel,
  and his Redeemer, the Lord of hosts:
 I am the first and I am the last;
  besides me there is no god.
 ⁷Who is like me? Let them proclaim it,
  let them declare and set it forth before me.
 Who has announced from of old the things to come?
  Let them tell us what is yet to be.
 ⁸Do not fear, or be afraid;
  have I not told you from of old and declared it?
  You are my witnesses!
 Is there any god besides me?
  There is no other rock; I know not one.

⁶ »Así dice el Señor, el Señor Todopoderoso,
    rey y redentor de Israel:
“Yo soy el primero y el último;
    fuera de mí no hay otro dios.
⁷ ¿Quién es como yo?
    Que lo diga.
Que declare lo que ha ocurrido
    desde que establecí a mi antiguo pueblo;
que exponga ante mí lo que está por venir,
    ¡que anuncie lo que va a suceder!
⁸ No tiemblen ni se asusten.
    ¿Acaso no lo anuncié y profeticé hace tiempo?
Ustedes son mis testigos.
    ¿Hay algún Dios fuera de mí?
No, no hay otra Roca;
    no conozco ninguna”».

¹¹Teach me your way, O Lord, and I will walk in your truth;
  give me an undivided heart to revere your name.
 ¹²I will thank you, O Lord my God, with all my heart,
  and glorify your name forevermore. 
 ¹³For great is your love toward me;
  you have delivered me from the pit of death.
 ¹⁴The arrogant rise up against me, O God, and a band of violent people seeks my life;
  they have not set you before their eyes.
 ¹⁵But you, O Lord, are gracious and full of compassion,
  slow to anger, and full of kindness and truth.
 ¹⁶Turn to me and have mercy on me;
  give your strength to your servant, and save the child of your handmaid.
 ¹⁷Show me a sign of your favor, so that those who hate me may see it and be put to shame;
  because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me.

¹¹ Instrúyeme, Señor, en tu camino

¹²So then, brothers and sisters, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh—¹³for if you live according to the flesh, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. ¹⁴For all who are led by the Spirit of God are children of God. ¹⁵For you did not receive a spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received a spirit of adoption. When we cry, “Abba! Father!” ¹⁶it is that very Spirit bearing witness with our spirit that we are children of God, ¹⁷and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ—if, in fact, we suffer with him so that we may also be glorified with him.

¹⁸I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory about to be revealed to us. ¹⁹For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the children of God; ²⁰for the creation was subjected to futility, not of its own will but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope ²¹that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to decay and will obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. ²²We know that the whole creation has been groaning in labor pains until now; ²³and not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have the first fruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly while we wait for adoption, the redemption of our bodies. ²⁴For in hope we were saved. Now hope that is seen is not hope. For who hopes for what is seen? ²⁵But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.

¹² Por tanto, hermanos, tenemos una obligación, pero no es la de vivir conforme a la naturaleza pecaminosa. ¹³ Porque, si ustedes viven conforme a ella, morirán; pero, si por medio del Espíritu dan muerte a los malos hábitos del cuerpo, vivirán. ¹⁴ Porque todos los que son guiados por el Espíritu de Dios son hijos de Dios. ¹⁵ Y ustedes no recibieron un espíritu que de nuevo los esclavice al miedo, sino el Espíritu que los adopta como hijos y les permite clamar: «¡Abba! ¡Padre!» ¹⁶ El Espíritu mismo le asegura a nuestro espíritu que somos hijos de Dios. ¹⁷ Y, si somos hijos, somos herederos; herederos de Dios y coherederos con Cristo, pues, si ahora sufrimos con él, también tendremos parte con él en su gloria.

¹⁸ De hecho, considero que en nada se comparan los sufrimientos actuales con la gloria que habrá de revelarse en nosotros. ¹⁹ La creación aguarda con ansiedad la revelación de los hijos de Dios, ²⁰ porque fue sometida a la frustración. Esto no sucedió por su propia voluntad, sino por la del que así lo dispuso. Pero queda la firme esperanza ²¹ de que la creación misma ha de ser liberada de la corrupción que la esclaviza, para así alcanzar la gloriosa libertad de los hijos de Dios.

²² Sabemos que toda la creación todavía gime a una, como si tuviera dolores de parto. ²³ Y no solo ella, sino también nosotros mismos, que tenemos las primicias del Espíritu, gemimos interiormente, mientras aguardamos nuestra adopción como hijos, es decir, la redención de nuestro cuerpo. ²⁴ Porque en esa esperanza fuimos salvados. Pero la esperanza que se ve ya no es esperanza. ¿Quién espera lo que ya tiene? ²⁵ Pero, si esperamos lo que todavía no tenemos, en la espera mostramos nuestra constancia.

²⁴[Jesus] put before [the crowds] another parable: “The kingdom of heaven may be compared to someone who sowed good seed in his field;²⁵but while everybody was asleep, an enemy came and sowed weeds among the wheat, and then went away. ²⁶So when the plants came up and bore grain, then the weeds appeared as well. ²⁷And the slaves of the householder came and said to him, ‘Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where, then, did these weeds come from?’ ²⁸He answered, ‘An enemy has done this.’ The slaves said to him, ‘Then do you want us to go and gather them?’ ²⁹But he replied, ‘No; for in gathering the weeds you would uproot the wheat along with them. ³⁰Let both of them grow together until the harvest; and at harvest time I will tell the reapers, Collect the weeds first and bind them in bundles to be burned, but gather the wheat into my barn.’ ”
  ³⁶Then he left the crowds and went into the house. And his disciples approached him, saying, “Explain to us the parable of the weeds of the field.” ³⁷He answered, “The one who sows the good seed is the Son of Man; ³⁸the field is the world, and the good seed are the children of the kingdom; the weeds are the children of the evil one, ³⁹and the enemy who sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the age, and the reapers are angels. ⁴⁰Just as the weeds are collected and burned up with fire, so will it be at the end of the age. ⁴¹The Son of Man will send his angels, and they will collect out of his kingdom all causes of sin and all evildoers, ⁴²and they will throw them into the furnace of fire, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. ⁴³Then the righteous will shine like the sun in the kingdom of their Father. Let anyone with ears listen!”

²⁴ Jesús les contó otra parábola: «El reino de los cielos es como un hombre que sembró buena semilla en su campo. ²⁵ Pero, mientras todos dormían, llegó su enemigo y sembró mala hierba entre el trigo, y se fue. ²⁶ Cuando brotó el trigo y se formó la espiga, apareció también la mala hierba. ²⁷ Los siervos fueron al dueño y le dijeron: “Señor, ¿no sembró usted semilla buena en su campo? Le preguntaron los siervos: “¿Quiere usted que vayamos a arrancarla?” ²⁹ “¡No! —les contestó—, no sea que, al arrancar la mala hierba, arranquen con ella el trigo. ³⁰ Dejen que crezcan juntos hasta la cosecha. Entonces les diré a los segadores: Recojan primero la mala hierba, y átenla en manojos para quemarla; después recojan el trigo y guárdenlo en mi granero”».

³⁶ Una vez que se despidió de la multitud, entró en la casa. Se le acercaron sus discípulos y le pidieron:

—Explícanos la parábola de la mala hierba del campo.

³⁷ —El que sembró la buena semilla es el Hijo del hombre —les respondió Jesús—. ³⁸ El campo es el mundo, y la buena semilla representa a los hijos del reino. La mala hierba son los hijos del maligno, ³⁹ y el enemigo que la siembra es el diablo. La cosecha es el fin del mundo, y los segadores son los ángeles.

⁴⁰ »Así como se recoge la mala hierba y se quema en el fuego, ocurrirá también al fin del mundo. ⁴¹ El Hijo del hombre enviará a sus ángeles, y arrancarán de su reino a todos los que pecan y hacen pecar. ⁴² Los arrojarán al horno encendido, donde habrá llanto y rechinar de dientes. ⁴³ Entonces los justos brillarán en el reino de su Padre como el sol. El que tenga oídos, que oiga.

¹⁰For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
  and do not return there until they have watered the earth,
 making it bring forth and sprout,
  giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater,
¹¹so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth;
  it shall not return to me empty,
 but it shall accomplish that which I purpose,
  and succeed in the thing for which I sent it.

¹²For you shall go out in joy,
  and be led back in peace;
 the mountains and the hills before you
  shall burst into song,
  and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands.
¹³Instead of the thorn shall come up the cypress;
  instead of the brier shall come up the myrtle;
 and it shall be to the Lord for a memorial,
  for an everlasting sign that shall not be cut off.

¹⁰ Así como la lluvia y la nieve
    descienden del cielo,
y no vuelven allá sin regar antes la tierra
    y hacerla fecundar y germinar
para que dé semilla al que siembra
    y pan al que come,
¹¹ así es también la palabra que sale de mi boca:
    No volverá a mí vacía,
sino que hará lo que yo deseo
    y cumplirá con mis propósitos.
¹² Ustedes saldrán con alegría
    y serán guiados en paz.
A su paso, las montañas y las colinas
    prorrumpirán en gritos de júbilo
    y aplaudirán todos los árboles del bosque.
¹³ En vez de zarzas, crecerán cipreses;
    mirtos, en lugar de ortigas.
Esto le dará renombre al Señor;
    será una señal que durará para siempre».

¹You are to be praised, O God, in Zion;
  to you shall vows be fulfilled.
 ²To you, the one who answers prayer,
  to you all flesh shall come.
 ³Our sins are stronger than we are,
  but you blot out our transgressions.
 ⁴Happy are they whom you choose and draw to your  courts to dwell there!
  They will be satisfied by the beauty of your house, by the holiness of your temple. 
 ⁵Awesome things will you show us in your righteousness, O God of our salvation,
  O hope of all the ends of the earth and of the oceans far away.
 ⁶You make firm the mountains by your power;
  you are girded about with might.
 ⁷You still the roaring of the seas,
  the roaring of their waves, and the clamor of the peoples.
 ⁸Those who dwell at the ends of the earth will tremble at your marvelous signs;
  you make the dawn and the dusk to sing for joy. 
  ⁹You visit the earth and water it abundantly; you make it very plenteous; the river of God is full of water.
  You prepare the grain, for so you provide for the earth.
 ¹⁰You drench the furrows and smooth out the ridges;
  with heavy rain you soften the ground and bless its increase.
 ¹¹You crown the year with your goodness,
  and your paths overflow with plenty.
 ¹²May the fields of the wilderness be rich for grazing,
  and the hills be clothed with joy.
 ¹³May the meadows cover themselves with flocks, and the valleys cloak themselves with grain;
  let them shout for joy and sing.

A ti, oh Dios de Sión,
    te pertenece la alabanza.
A ti se te deben cumplir los votos,
²     porque escuchas la oración.
A ti acude todo mortal,
³     a causa de sus perversidades.
Nuestros delitos nos abruman,
    pero tú los perdonaste.
⁴ ¡Dichoso aquel a quien tú escoges,
    al que atraes a ti para que viva en tus atrios!
Saciémonos de los bienes de tu casa,
    de los dones de tu santo templo.

⁵ Tú, oh Dios y Salvador nuestro,
    nos respondes con imponentes obras de justicia;
tú eres la esperanza de los confines de la tierra
    y de los más lejanos mares.
⁶ Tú, con tu poder, formaste las montañas,
    desplegando tu potencia.
⁷ Tú calmaste el rugido de los mares,
    el estruendo de sus olas,
    y el tumulto de los pueblos.
⁸ Los que viven en remotos lugares
    se asombran ante tus prodigios;
del oriente al occidente
    tú inspiras canciones de alegría.

⁹ Con tus cuidados fecundas la tierra,
    y la colmas de abundancia.
Los arroyos de Dios se llenan de agua,
    para asegurarle trigo al pueblo.
    ¡Así preparas el campo!
¹⁰ Empapas los surcos, nivelas sus terrones,
    reblandeces la tierra con las lluvias
    y bendices sus renuevos.
¹¹ Tú coronas el año con tus bondades,
    y tus carretas se desbordan de abundancia.
¹² Rebosan los prados del desierto;
    las colinas se visten de alegría.
¹³ Pobladas de rebaños las praderas,
    y cubiertos los valles de trigales,
    cantan y lanzan voces de alegría.

¹There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. ²For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set you free from the law of sin and of death. ³For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do: by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and to deal with sin, he condemned sin in the flesh, ⁴so that the just requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. ⁵For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit. ⁶To set the mind on the flesh is death, but to set the mind on the Spirit is life and peace. ⁷For this reason the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law—indeed it cannot, ⁸and those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
  ⁹But you are not in the flesh; you are in the Spirit, since the Spirit of God dwells in you. Anyone who does not have the Spirit of Christ does not belong to him. ¹⁰But if Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, the Spirit is life because of righteousness. ¹¹If the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will give life to your mortal bodies also through his Spirit that dwells in you.

Por lo tanto, ya no hay ninguna condenación para los que están unidos a Cristo Jesús, ² pues por medio de él la ley del Espíritu de vida me ha liberado de la ley del pecado y de la muerte. ³ En efecto, la ley no pudo liberarnos porque la naturaleza pecaminosa anuló su poder; por eso Dios envió a su propio Hijo en condición semejante a nuestra condición de pecadores, para que se ofreciera en sacrificio por el pecado. Así condenó Dios al pecado en la naturaleza humana, ⁴ a fin de que las justas demandas de la ley se cumplieran en nosotros, que no vivimos según la naturaleza pecaminosa, sino según el Espíritu.

⁵ Los que viven conforme a la naturaleza pecaminosa fijan la mente en los deseos de tal naturaleza; en cambio, los que viven conforme al Espíritu fijan la mente en los deseos del Espíritu. ⁶ La mentalidad pecaminosa es muerte, mientras que la mentalidad que proviene del Espíritu es vida y paz. ⁷ La mentalidad pecaminosa es enemiga de Dios, pues no se somete a la ley de Dios, ni es capaz de hacerlo. ⁸ Los que viven según la naturaleza pecaminosa no pueden agradar a Dios.

⁹ Sin embargo, ustedes no viven según la naturaleza pecaminosa, sino según el Espíritu, si es que el Espíritu de Dios vive en ustedes. Y, si alguno no tiene el Espíritu de Cristo, no es de Cristo. ¹⁰ Pero, si Cristo está en ustedes, el cuerpo está muerto a causa del pecado, pero el Espíritu que está en ustedes es vida a causa de la justicia. ¹¹ Y, si el Espíritu de aquel que levantó a Jesús de entre los muertos vive en ustedes, el mismo que levantó a Cristo de entre los muertos también dará vida a sus cuerpos mortales por medio de su Espíritu, que vive en ustedes.

¹That same day Jesus went out of the house and sat beside the sea. ²Such great crowds gathered around him that he got into a boat and sat there, while the whole crowd stood on the beach. ³And he told them many things in parables, saying: “Listen! A sower went out to sow. ⁴And as he sowed, some seeds fell on the path, and the birds came and ate them up. ⁵Other seeds fell on rocky ground, where they did not have much soil, and they sprang up quickly, since they had no depth of soil. ⁶But when the sun rose, they were scorched; and since they had no root, they withered away. ⁷Other seeds fell among thorns, and the thorns grew up and choked them. ⁸Other seeds fell on good soil and brought forth grain, some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty. ⁹Let anyone with ears listen!”

¹⁸“Hear then the parable of the sower. ¹⁹When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what is sown in the heart; this is what was sown on the path. ²⁰As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy; ²¹yet such a person has no root, but endures only for a while, and when trouble or persecution arises on account of the word, that person immediately falls away. ²²As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the lure of wealth choke the word, and it yields nothing. ²³But as for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

Ese mismo día salió Jesús de la casa y se sentó junto al lago. ² Era tal la multitud que se reunió para verlo que él tuvo que subir a una barca donde se sentó mientras toda la gente estaba de pie en la orilla. ³ Y les dijo en parábolas muchas cosas como estas: «Un sembrador salió a sembrar. ⁴ Mientras iba esparciendo la semilla, una parte cayó junto al camino, y llegaron los pájaros y se la comieron. ⁵ Otra parte cayó en terreno pedregoso, sin mucha tierra. Esa semilla brotó pronto porque la tierra no era profunda; ⁶ pero, cuando salió el sol, las plantas se marchitaron y, por no tener raíz, se secaron. ⁷ Otra parte de la semilla cayó entre espinos que, al crecer, la ahogaron. ⁸ Pero las otras semillas cayeron en buen terreno, en el que se dio una cosecha que rindió treinta, sesenta y hasta cien veces más de lo que se había sembrado. ⁹ El que tenga oídos, que oiga».

¹⁸ »Escuchen lo que significa la parábola del sembrador: ¹⁹ Cuando alguien oye la palabra acerca del reino y no la entiende, viene el maligno y arrebata lo que se sembró en su corazón. Esta es la semilla sembrada junto al camino. ²⁰ El que recibió la semilla que cayó en terreno pedregoso es el que oye la palabra e inmediatamente la recibe con alegría; ²¹ pero, como no tiene raíz, dura poco tiempo. Cuando surgen problemas o persecución a causa de la palabra, en seguida se aparta de ella. ²² El que recibió la semilla que cayó entre espinos es el que oye la palabra, pero las preocupaciones de esta vida y el engaño de las riquezas la ahogan, de modo que esta no llega a dar fruto. ²³ Pero el que recibió la semilla que cayó en buen terreno es el que oye la palabra y la entiende. Este sí produce una cosecha al treinta, al sesenta y hasta al ciento por uno».
