¹⁵O Lord, you know;
  remember me and visit me,
  and bring down retribution for me on my persecutors.
 In your forbearance do not take me away;
  know that on your account I suffer insult.
¹⁶Your words were found, and I ate them,
  and your words became to me a joy
  and the delight of my heart;
 for I am called by your name,
  O Lord, God of hosts.
¹⁷I did not sit in the company of merrymakers,
  nor did I rejoice;
 under the weight of your hand I sat alone,
  for you had filled me with indignation.
¹⁸Why is my pain unceasing,
  my wound incurable,
  refusing to be healed?
 Truly, you are to me like a deceitful brook,
  like waters that fail.

¹⁹Therefore thus says the Lord:
 If you turn back, I will take you back,
  and you shall stand before me.
 If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless,
  you shall serve as my mouth.
 It is they who will turn to you,
  not you who will turn to them.
²⁰And I will make you to this people
  a fortified wall of bronze;
 they will fight against you,
  but they shall not prevail over you,
 for I am with you
  to save you and deliver you,
 says the Lord.
²¹I will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked,
  and redeem you from the grasp of the ruthless.

¹⁵ Tú comprendes, Señor;
    ¡acuérdate de mí, y cuídame!
    ¡Toma venganza de los que me persiguen!
Por causa de tu paciencia,
    no permitas que sea yo arrebatado;
    mira que por ti sufro injurias.
¹⁶ Al encontrarme con tus palabras,
    yo las devoraba;
ellas eran mi gozo
    y la alegría de mi corazón,
porque yo llevo tu nombre,
    Señor Dios Todopoderoso.
¹⁷ No he formado parte de grupos libertinos,
    ni me he divertido con ellos;
he vivido solo, porque tú estás conmigo
    y me has llenado de indignación.
¹⁸ ¿Por qué no cesa mi dolor?
    ¿Por qué es incurable mi herida?
    ¿Por qué se resiste a sanar?
¿Serás para mí un torrente engañoso
    de aguas no confiables?

¹⁹ Por eso, así dice el Señor:

«Si te arrepientes,
    yo te restauraré y podrás servirme.
Si evitas hablar en vano,
    y hablas lo que en verdad vale,
    tú serás mi portavoz.
Que ellos se vuelvan hacia ti,
    pero tú no te vuelvas hacia ellos.
²⁰ Haré que seas para este pueblo
    como invencible muro de bronce;
pelearán contra ti,
    pero no te podrán vencer,
porque yo estoy contigo
    para salvarte y librarte
            —afirma el Señor—.
²¹ Te libraré del poder de los malvados;
    ¡te rescataré de las garras de los violentos!»

¹Give judgment for me, O Lord, for I have lived with integrity;
  I have trusted in the Lord and have not faltered.
 ²Test me, O Lord, and try me;
  examine my heart and my mind.
 ³For your steadfast love is before my eyes;
  I have walked faithfully with you.
 ⁴I have not sat with the worthless,
  nor do I consort with the deceitful. 
 ⁵I have hated the company of evildoers;
  I will not sit down with the wicked.
 ⁶I will wash my hands in innocence, O Lord,
  that I may go in procession round your altar,
 ⁷singing aloud a song of thanksgiving
  and recounting all your wonderful deeds.
 ⁸Lord, I love the house in which you dwell
  and the place where your glory abides.

Hazme justicia, Señor,
    pues he llevado una vida intachable;
    ¡en el Señor confío sin titubear!
² Examíname, Señor; ¡ponme a prueba!
    purifica mis entrañas y mi corazón.

³ Tu gran amor lo tengo presente,
    y siempre ando en tu verdad.
⁴ Yo no convivo con los mentirosos,
    ni me junto con los hipócritas;
⁵ aborrezco la compañía de los malvados;
    no cultivo la amistad de los perversos.

⁶ Con manos limpias e inocentes
    camino, Señor, en torno a tu altar,
⁷ proclamando en voz alta tu alabanza
    y contando todas tus maravillas.
⁸ Señor, yo amo la casa donde vives,
    el lugar donde reside tu gloria.

⁹Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good; ¹⁰love one another with mutual affection; outdo one another in showing honor. ¹¹Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in spirit, serve the Lord. ¹²Rejoice in hope, be patient in suffering, persevere in prayer. ¹³Contribute to the needs of the saints; extend hospitality to strangers.
  ¹⁴Bless those who persecute you; bless and do not curse them. ¹⁵Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. ¹⁶Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty, but associate with the lowly; do not claim to be wiser than you are. ¹⁷Do not repay anyone evil for evil, but take thought for what is noble in the sight of all. ¹⁸If it is possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. ¹⁹Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave room for the wrath of God; for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.” ²⁰No, “if your enemies are hungry, feed them; if they are thirsty, give them something to drink; for by doing this you will heap burning coals on their heads.” ²¹Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

⁹ El amor debe ser sincero. Aborrezcan el mal; aférrense al bien. ¹⁰ Ámense los unos a los otros con amor fraternal, respetándose y honrándose mutuamente. ¹¹ Nunca dejen de ser diligentes; antes bien, sirvan al Señor con el fervor que da el Espíritu. ¹² Alégrense en la esperanza, muestren paciencia en el sufrimiento, perseveren en la oración. ¹³ Ayuden a los hermanos necesitados. Practiquen la hospitalidad. ¹⁴ Bendigan a quienes los persigan; bendigan y no maldigan. ¹⁵ Alégrense con los que están alegres; lloren con los que lloran. ¹⁶ Vivan en armonía los unos con los otros. No sean arrogantes, sino háganse solidarios con los humildes. No se crean los únicos que saben.

¹⁷ No paguen a nadie mal por mal. Procuren hacer lo bueno delante de todos. ¹⁸ Si es posible, y en cuanto dependa de ustedes, vivan en paz con todos. ¹⁹ No tomen venganza, hermanos míos, sino dejen el castigo en las manos de Dios, porque está escrito: «Mía es la venganza; yo pagaré», dice el Señor. ²⁰ Antes bien,

«Si tu enemigo tiene hambre, dale de comer;
    si tiene sed, dale de beber.
Actuando así, harás que se avergüence de su conducta».

²¹ No te dejes vencer por el mal; al contrario, vence el mal con el bien.

²¹From that time on, [after Peter confessed that Jesus was the Messiah,] Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and undergo great suffering at the hands of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. ²²And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “God forbid it, Lord! This must never happen to you.” ²³But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; for you are setting your mind not on divine things but on human things.”
  ²⁴Then Jesus told his disciples, “If any want to become my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. ²⁵For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose their life for my sake will find it. ²⁶For what will it profit them if they gain the whole world but forfeit their life? Or what will they give in return for their life?
  ²⁷“For the Son of Man is to come with his angels in the glory of his Father, and then he will repay everyone for what has been done. ²⁸Truly I tell you, there are some standing here who will not taste death before they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.”

²¹ Desde entonces comenzó Jesús a advertir a sus discípulos que tenía que ir a Jerusalén y sufrir muchas cosas a manos de los ancianos, de los jefes de los sacerdotes y de los maestros de la ley, y que era necesario que lo mataran y que al tercer día resucitara. ²² Pedro lo llevó aparte y comenzó a reprenderlo:

—¡De ninguna manera, Señor! ¡Esto no te sucederá jamás!

²³ Jesús se volvió y le dijo a Pedro:

—¡Aléjate de mí, Satanás! Quieres hacerme tropezar; no piensas en las cosas de Dios, sino en las de los hombres.

²⁴ Luego dijo Jesús a sus discípulos:

—Si alguien quiere ser mi discípulo, tiene que negarse a sí mismo, tomar su cruz y seguirme. ²⁵ Porque el que quiera salvar su vida, la perderá; pero el que pierda su vida por mi causa, la encontrará. ²⁶ ¿De qué sirve ganar el mundo entero si se pierde la vida? ¿O qué se puede dar a cambio de la vida? ²⁷ Porque el Hijo del hombre ha de venir en la gloria de su Padre con sus ángeles, y entonces recompensará a cada persona según lo que haya hecho. ²⁸ Les aseguro que algunos de los aquí presentes no sufrirán la muerte sin antes haber visto al Hijo del hombre llegar en su reino.
