¹⁴Sing aloud, O daughter Zion;
  shout, O Israel!
 Rejoice and exult with all your heart,
  O daughter Jerusalem!
 ¹⁵The Lord has taken away the judgments against you,
  he has turned away your enemies.
 The king of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst;
  you shall fear disaster no more.
 ¹⁶On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem:
 Do not fear, O Zion;
  do not let your hands grow weak.
 ¹⁷The Lord, your God, is in your midst,
  a warrior who gives victory;
 he will rejoice over you with gladness,
  he will renew you in his love;
 he will exult over you with loud singing
  ¹⁸as on a day of festival.
 I will remove disaster from you,
  so that you will not bear reproach for it.
 ¹⁹I will deal with all your oppressors
  at that time.
 And I will save the lame
  and gather the outcast,
 and I will change their shame into praise
  and renown in all the earth.
 ²⁰At that time I will bring you home,
  at the time when I gather you;
 for I will make you renowned and praised
  among all the peoples of the earth,
 when I restore your fortunes
  before your eyes, says the Lord.

¹⁴ ¡Lanza gritos de alegría, hija de Sión!
    ¡da gritos de victoria, Israel!
¡Regocíjate y alégrate de todo corazón,
    hija de Jerusalén!
¹⁵ El Señor te ha levantado el castigo,
    ha puesto en retirada a tus enemigos.
El Señor, rey de Israel, está en medio de ti:
    nunca más temerás mal alguno.
¹⁶ Aquel día le dirán a Jerusalén:
    «No temas, Sión, ni te desanimes,
¹⁷ porque el Señor tu Dios está en medio de ti
    como guerrero victorioso.
Se deleitará en ti con gozo,
    te renovará con su amor,
se alegrará por ti con cantos
¹⁸     como en los días de fiesta».

«Yo te libraré de las tristezas,
    que son para ti una carga deshonrosa.
¹⁹ En aquel tiempo yo mismo me ocuparé
    de todos los que te oprimen;
salvaré a la oveja que cojea
    y juntaré a la descarriada.
Les daré a ustedes fama y renombre
    en los países donde fueron avergonzados.
²⁰ En aquel tiempo yo los traeré,
    en aquel tiempo los reuniré.
Daré a ustedes fama y renombre
    entre todos los pueblos de la tierra
cuando yo los restaure
ante sus mismos ojos».
            Así lo ha dicho el Señor.

²Surely God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid,
  for the Lord God is my strength and my might, and has become ^|my salvation.
 ³With joy you will draw water
  from the wells of salvation. 
 ⁴And you will say in that day: Give thanks to the Lord, call on God’s name;
  make known the deeds of the Lord among the nations; proclaim that this name is exalted.
 ⁵Sing praises to the Lord, for he has done gloriously;
  let this be known in all the earth.
 ⁶Shout aloud and sing for joy, O royal Zion,
  for great in your midst is the Holy One of Israel.

² ¡Dios es mi salvación!
    Confiaré en él y no temeré.
El Señor es mi fuerza,
    el Señor es mi canción;
    ¡él es mi salvación!»
³ Con alegría sacarán ustedes agua
    de las fuentes de la salvación.

⁴ En aquel día se dirá:

«Alaben al Señor, invoquen su nombre;
    den a conocer entre los pueblos sus obras;
    proclamen la grandeza de su nombre.
⁵ Canten salmos al Señor,
    porque ha hecho maravillas;
que esto se dé a conocer
    en toda la tierra.
⁶ ¡Canta y grita de alegría,
    habitante de Sión;
realmente es grande, en medio de ti,
    el Santo de Israel!»

⁴Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice. ⁵Let your gentleness be known to everyone. The Lord is near. ⁶Do not worry about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ⁷And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

⁴ Alégrense siempre en el Señor. Insisto: ¡Alégrense! ⁵ Que su amabilidad sea evidente a todos. El Señor está cerca. ⁶ No se inquieten por nada; más bien, en toda ocasión, con oración y ruego, presenten sus peticiones a Dios y denle gracias. ⁷ Y la paz de Dios, que sobrepasa todo entendimiento, cuidará sus corazones y sus pensamientos en Cristo Jesús.

⁷John said to the crowds that came out to be baptized by him, “You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the wrath to come? ⁸Bear fruits worthy of repentance. Do not begin to say to yourselves, ‘We have Abraham as our ancestor’; for I tell you, God is able from these stones to raise up children to Abraham. ⁹Even now the ax is lying at the root of the trees; every tree therefore that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire.”
  ¹⁰And the crowds asked him, “What then should we do?” ¹¹In reply he said to them, “Whoever has two coats must share with anyone who has none; and whoever has food must do likewise.” ¹²Even tax collectors came to be baptized, and they asked him, “Teacher, what should we do?” ¹³He said to them, “Collect no more than the amount prescribed for you.” ¹⁴Soldiers also asked him, “And we, what should we do?” He said to them, “Do not extort money from anyone by threats or false accusation, and be satisfied with your wages.”
  ¹⁵As the people were filled with expectation, and all were questioning in their hearts concerning John, whether he might be the Messiah, ¹⁶John answered all of them by saying, “I baptize you with water; but one who is more powerful than I is coming; I am not worthy to untie the thong of his sandals. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire. ¹⁷His winnowing fork is in his hand, to clear his threshing floor and to gather the wheat into his granary; but the chaff he will burn with unquenchable fire.”
  ¹⁸So, with many other exhortations, he proclaimed the good news to the people.

⁷ Muchos acudían a Juan para que los bautizara.

—¡Camada de víboras! —les advirtió—. ¿Quién les dijo que podrán escapar del castigo que se acerca? ⁸ Produzcan frutos que demuestren arrepentimiento. Y no se pongan a pensar: “Tenemos a Abraham por padre”. Porque les digo que aun de estas piedras Dios es capaz de darle hijos a Abraham. ⁹ Es más, el hacha ya está puesta a la raíz de los árboles, y todo árbol que no produzca buen fruto será cortado y arrojado al fuego.

¹⁰ —¿Entonces qué debemos hacer? —le preguntaba la gente.

¹¹ —El que tiene dos camisas debe compartir con el que no tiene ninguna —les contestó Juan—, y el que tiene comida debe hacer lo mismo.

¹² Llegaron también unos recaudadores de impuestos para que los bautizara.

—Maestro, ¿qué debemos hacer nosotros? —le preguntaron.

¹³ —No cobren más de lo debido —les respondió.

¹⁴ —Y nosotros, ¿qué debemos hacer? —le preguntaron unos soldados.

—No extorsionen a nadie ni hagan denuncias falsas; más bien confórmense con lo que les pagan.

¹⁵ La gente estaba a la expectativa, y todos se preguntaban si acaso Juan sería el Cristo.

¹⁶ —Yo los bautizo a ustedes con^[a] agua —les respondió Juan a todos—. Pero está por llegar uno más poderoso que yo, a quien ni siquiera merezco desatarle la correa de sus sandalias. Él los bautizará con el Espíritu Santo y con fuego. ¹⁷ Tiene el aventador en la mano para limpiar su era y recoger el trigo en su granero; la paja, en cambio, la quemará con fuego que nunca se apagará.

¹⁸ Y con muchas otras palabras exhortaba Juan a la gente y le anunciaba las buenas nuevas.
