²[The Israelites] had journeyed from Rephidim, entered the wilderness of Sinai, and camped in the wilderness; Israel camped there in front of the mountain.³Then Moses went up to God; the Lord called to him from the mountain, saying, “Thus you shall say to the house of Jacob, and tell the Israelites: ⁴You have seen what I did to the Egyptians, and how I bore you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself. ⁵Now therefore, if you obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession out of all the peoples. Indeed, the whole earth is mine, ⁶but you shall be for me a priestly kingdom and a holy nation. These are the words that you shall speak to the Israelites.”
  ⁷So Moses came, summoned the elders of the people, and set before them all these words that the Lord had commanded him. ^8aThe people all answered as one: “Everything that the Lord has spoken we will do.”

² Después de partir de Refidín, se internaron en el desierto de Sinaí, y allí en el desierto acamparon, frente al monte, ³ al cual subió Moisés para encontrarse con Dios. Y desde allí lo llamó el Señor y le dijo:

«Anúnciale esto al pueblo de Jacob;
    declárale esto al pueblo de Israel:
⁴ “Ustedes son testigos de lo que hice con Egipto,
    y de que los he traído hacia mí
    como sobre alas de águila.
⁵ Si ahora ustedes me son del todo obedientes,
    y cumplen mi pacto,
serán mi propiedad exclusiva
    entre todas las naciones.
Aunque toda la tierra me pertenece,
⁶     ustedes serán para mí un reino de sacerdotes
    y una nación santa”.

»Comunícales todo esto a los israelitas».

⁷ Moisés volvió y convocó a los ancianos del pueblo para exponerles todas estas palabras que el Señor le había ordenado comunicarles, ⁸ y todo el pueblo respondió a una sola voz: «Cumpliremos con todo lo que el Señor nos ha ordenado».

Así que Moisés le llevó al Señor la respuesta del pueblo,

¹Make a joyful noise to the Lord,  all you lands!
  ²Serve the Lord with gladness; come into God’s presence with a song.
 ³Know that the Lord is God, our maker to whom we belong;
  we are God’s people and the sheep of God’s pasture. 
 ⁴Enter the gates of the Lord with thanksgiving and the courts with praise;
  give thanks and bless God’s holy name.
 ⁵Good indeed is the Lord, whose steadfast love is everlasting,
  whose faithfulness endures from age to age.

Aclamen alegres al Señor, habitantes de toda la tierra;
²     adoren al Señor con regocijo.
Preséntense ante él
    con cánticos de júbilo.
³ Reconozcan que el Señor es Dios;
    él nos hizo, y somos suyos.
    Somos su pueblo, ovejas de su prado.

⁴ Entren por sus puertas con acción de gracias;
    vengan a sus atrios con himnos de alabanza;
    denle gracias, alaben su nombre.
⁵ Porque el Señor es bueno y su gran amor es eterno;
    su fidelidad permanece para siempre.

¹Since we are justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, ²through whom we have obtained access to this grace in which we stand; and we boast in our hope of sharing the glory of God. ³And not only that, but we also boast in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, ⁴and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, ⁵and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit that has been given to us.
  ⁶For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. ⁷Indeed, rarely will anyone die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person someone might actually dare to die. ⁸But God proves his love for us in that while we still were sinners Christ died for us.

En consecuencia, ya que hemos sido justificados mediante la fe, tenemos paz con Dios por medio de nuestro Señor Jesucristo. ² También por medio de él, y mediante la fe, tenemos acceso a esta gracia en la cual nos mantenemos firmes. Así que nos regocijamos en la esperanza de alcanzar la gloria de Dios. ³ Y no solo en esto, sino también en nuestros sufrimientos, porque sabemos que el sufrimiento produce perseverancia; ⁴ la perseverancia, entereza de carácter; la entereza de carácter, esperanza. ⁵ Y esta esperanza no nos defrauda, porque Dios ha derramado su amor en nuestro corazón por el Espíritu Santo que nos ha dado.

⁶ A la verdad, como éramos incapaces de salvarnos, en el tiempo señalado Cristo murió por los malvados. ⁷ Difícilmente habrá quien muera por un justo, aunque tal vez haya quien se atreva a morir por una persona buena. ⁸ Pero Dios demuestra su amor por nosotros en esto: en que cuando todavía éramos pecadores, Cristo murió por nosotros.

³⁵Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and proclaiming the good news of the kingdom, and curing every disease and every sickness. ³⁶When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. ³⁷Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; ³⁸therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”
 ^10:1Then Jesus summoned his twelve disciples and gave them authority over unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to cure every disease and every sickness. ²These are the names of the twelve apostles: first, Simon, also known as Peter, and his brother Andrew; James son of Zebedee, and his brother John; ³Philip and Bartholomew; Thomas and Matthew the tax collector; James son of Alphaeus, and Thaddaeus; ⁴Simon the Cananaean, and Judas Iscariot, the one who betrayed him.
  ⁵These twelve Jesus sent out with the following instructions: “Go nowhere among the Gentiles, and enter no town of the Samaritans, ⁶but go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. ⁷As you go, proclaim the good news, ‘The kingdom of heaven has come near.’ ⁸Cure the sick, raise the dead, cleanse the lepers, cast out demons. You received without payment; give without payment. [⁹Take no gold, or silver, or copper in your belts, ¹⁰no bag for your journey, or two tunics, or sandals, or a staff; for laborers deserve their food. ¹¹Whatever town or village you enter, find out who in it is worthy, and stay there until you leave. ¹²As you enter the house, greet it. ¹³If the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it; but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you. ¹⁴If anyone will not welcome you or listen to your words, shake off the dust from your feet as you leave that house or town. ¹⁵Truly I tell you, it will be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrah on the day of judgment than for that town.
  ¹⁶“See, I am sending you out like sheep into the midst of wolves; so be wise as serpents and innocent as doves. ¹⁷Beware of them, for they will hand you over to councils and flog you in their synagogues; ¹⁸and you will be dragged before governors and kings because of me, as a testimony to them and the Gentiles. ¹⁹When they hand you over, do not worry about how you are to speak or what you are to say; for what you are to say will be given to you at that time; ²⁰for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father speaking through you. ²¹Brother will betray brother to death, and a father his child, and children will rise against parents and have them put to death; ²²and you will be hated by all because of my name. But the one who endures to the end will be saved. ²³When they persecute you in one town, flee to the next; for truly I tell you, you will not have gone through all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man comes.”]

³⁵ Jesús recorría todos los pueblos y aldeas enseñando en las sinagogas, anunciando las buenas nuevas del reino, y sanando toda enfermedad y toda dolencia. ³⁶ Al ver a las multitudes, tuvo compasión de ellas, porque estaban agobiadas y desamparadas, como ovejas sin pastor. ³⁷ «La cosecha es abundante, pero son pocos los obreros —les dijo a sus discípulos—. ³⁸ Pídanle, por tanto, al Señor de la cosecha que envíe obreros a su campo».

10 Reunió a sus doce discípulos y les dio autoridad para expulsar a los espíritus malignos y sanar toda enfermedad y toda dolencia.

² Estos son los nombres de los doce apóstoles: primero Simón, llamado Pedro, y su hermano Andrés; Jacobo y su hermano Juan, hijos de Zebedeo; ³ Felipe y Bartolomé; Tomás y Mateo, el recaudador de impuestos; Jacobo, hijo de Alfeo, y Tadeo; ⁴ Simón el Zelote y Judas Iscariote, el que lo traicionó.

⁵ Jesús envió a estos doce con las siguientes instrucciones: «No vayan entre los gentiles ni entren en ningún pueblo de los samaritanos. ⁶ Vayan más bien a las ovejas descarriadas del pueblo de Israel. ⁷ Dondequiera que vayan, prediquen este mensaje: “El reino de los cielos está cerca”. ⁸ Sanen a los enfermos, resuciten a los muertos, limpien de su enfermedad a los que tienen lepra, expulsen a los demonios. Lo que ustedes recibieron gratis, denlo gratuitamente. ⁹ No lleven oro ni plata ni cobre en el cinturón, ¹⁰ ni bolsa para el camino, ni dos mudas de ropa, ni sandalias, ni bastón; porque el trabajador merece que se le dé su sustento.

¹¹ »En cualquier pueblo o aldea donde entren, busquen a alguien que merezca recibirlos, y quédense en su casa hasta que se vayan de ese lugar. ¹² Al entrar, digan: “Paz a esta casa”. ¹³ Si el hogar se lo merece, que la paz de ustedes reine en él; y, si no, que la paz se vaya con ustedes. ¹⁴ Si alguno no los recibe bien ni escucha sus palabras, al salir de esa casa o de ese pueblo, sacúdanse el polvo de los pies. ¹⁵ Les aseguro que en el día del juicio el castigo para Sodoma y Gomorra será más tolerable que para ese pueblo. ¹⁶ Los envío como ovejas en medio de lobos. Por tanto, sean astutos como serpientes y sencillos como palomas.

¹⁷ »Tengan cuidado con la gente; los entregarán a los tribunales y los azotarán en las sinagogas. ¹⁸ Por mi causa los llevarán ante gobernadores y reyes para dar testimonio a ellos y a los gentiles. ¹⁹ Pero, cuando los arresten, no se preocupen por lo que van a decir o cómo van a decirlo. En ese momento se les dará lo que han de decir, ²⁰ porque no serán ustedes los que hablen, sino que el Espíritu de su Padre hablará por medio de ustedes.

²¹ »El hermano entregará a la muerte al hermano, y el padre al hijo. Los hijos se rebelarán contra sus padres y harán que los maten. ²² Por causa de mi nombre todo el mundo los odiará, pero el que se mantenga firme hasta el fin será salvo. ²³ Cuando los persigan en una ciudad, huyan a otra. Les aseguro que no terminarán de recorrer las ciudades de Israel antes de que venga el Hijo del hombre.
