⁴²[The baptized] devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
⁴³Awe came upon everyone, because many wonders and signs were being done by the apostles. ⁴⁴All who believed were together and had all things in common; ⁴⁵they would sell their possessions and goods and distribute the proceeds to all, as any had need. ⁴⁶Day by day, as they spent much time together in the temple, they broke bread at home and ate their food with glad and generous hearts, ⁴⁷praising God and having the goodwill of all the people. And day by day the Lord added to their number those who were being saved.

⁴² Se mantenían firmes en la enseñanza de los apóstoles, en la comunión, en el partimiento del pan y en la oración. ⁴³ Todos estaban asombrados por los muchos prodigios y señales que realizaban los apóstoles. ⁴⁴ Todos los creyentes estaban juntos y tenían todo en común: ⁴⁵ vendían sus propiedades y posesiones, y compartían sus bienes entre sí según la necesidad de cada uno. ⁴⁶ No dejaban de reunirse en el templo ni un solo día. De casa en casa partían el pan y compartían la comida con alegría y generosidad, ⁴⁷ alabando a Dios y disfrutando de la estimación general del pueblo. Y cada día el Señor añadía al grupo los que iban siendo salvos.

¹The Lord is my shepherd;
  I shall not be in want.
 ²The Lord makes me lie down in green pastures
  and leads me beside still waters.
 ³You restore my soul, O Lord,
  and guide me along right pathways for your name’s sake.
 ⁴Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I shall fear no evil;
  for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 
 ⁵You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
  you anoint my head with oil, and my cup is running over.
 ⁶Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
  and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. 

EL Señor es mi pastor, nada me falta;
²     en verdes pastos me hace descansar.
Junto a tranquilas aguas me conduce;
³     me infunde nuevas fuerzas.
Me guía por sendas de justicia
    por amor a su nombre.

⁴ Aun si voy por valles tenebrosos,
    no temo peligro alguno
    porque tú estás a mi lado;
tu vara de pastor me reconforta.

⁵ Dispones ante mí un banquete
    en presencia de mis enemigos.
Has ungido con perfume mi cabeza;
    has llenado mi copa a rebosar.

⁶ La bondad y el amor me seguirán
    todos los días de mi vida;
y en la casa del Señor
    habitaré para siempre.

¹⁹It is a credit to you if, being aware of God, you endure pain while suffering unjustly. ²⁰If you endure when you are beaten for doing wrong, what credit is that? But if you endure when you do right and suffer for it, you have God’s approval. ²¹For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you should follow in his steps.
 ²²“He committed no sin,
  and no deceit was found in his mouth.”
²³When he was abused, he did not return abuse; when he suffered, he did not threaten; but he entrusted himself to the one who judges justly. ²⁴He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that, free from sins, we might live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. ²⁵For you were going astray like sheep, but now you have returned to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.

¹⁹ Porque es digno de elogio que, por sentido de responsabilidad delante de Dios, se soporten las penalidades, aun sufriendo injustamente. ²⁰ Pero ¿cómo pueden ustedes atribuirse mérito alguno si soportan que los maltraten por hacer el mal? En cambio, si sufren por hacer el bien, eso merece elogio delante de Dios. ²¹ Para esto fueron llamados, porque Cristo sufrió por ustedes, dándoles ejemplo para que sigan sus pasos.

²² «Él no cometió ningún pecado,
    ni hubo engaño en su boca».

²³ Cuando proferían insultos contra él, no replicaba con insultos; cuando padecía, no amenazaba, sino que se entregaba a aquel que juzga con justicia. ²⁴ Él mismo, en su cuerpo, llevó al madero nuestros pecados, para que muramos al pecado y vivamos para la justicia. Por sus heridas ustedes han sido sanados. ²⁵ Antes eran ustedes como ovejas descarriadas, pero ahora han vuelto al Pastor que cuida de sus vidas.

[Jesus said:] ¹“Very truly, I tell you, anyone who does not enter the sheepfold by the gate but climbs in by another way is a thief and a bandit. ²The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. ³The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. ⁴When he has brought out all his own, he goes ahead of them, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. ⁵They will not follow a stranger, but they will run from him because they do not know the voice of strangers.” ⁶Jesus used this figure of speech with them, but they did not understand what he was saying to them.
  ⁷So again Jesus said to them, “Very truly, I tell you, I am the gate for the sheep. ⁸All who came before me are thieves and bandits; but the sheep did not listen to them. ⁹I am the gate. Whoever enters by me will be saved, and will come in and go out and find pasture. ¹⁰The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.”

»Ciertamente les aseguro que el que no entra por la puerta al redil de las ovejas, sino que trepa y se mete por otro lado, es un ladrón y un bandido. ² El que entra por la puerta es el pastor de las ovejas. ³ El portero le abre la puerta, y las ovejas oyen su voz. Llama por nombre a las ovejas y las saca del redil. ⁴ Cuando ya ha sacado a todas las que son suyas, va delante de ellas, y las ovejas lo siguen porque reconocen su voz. ⁵ Pero a un desconocido jamás lo siguen; más bien, huyen de él porque no reconocen voces extrañas».

⁶ Jesús les puso este ejemplo, pero ellos no captaron el sentido de sus palabras. ⁷ Por eso volvió a decirles: «Ciertamente les aseguro que yo soy la puerta de las ovejas. ⁸ Todos los que vinieron antes de mí eran unos ladrones y unos bandidos, pero las ovejas no les hicieron caso. ⁹ Yo soy la puerta; el que entre por esta puerta, que soy yo, será salvo. Se moverá con entera libertad,y hallará pastos. ¹⁰ El ladrón no viene más que a robar, matar y destruir; yo he venido para que tengan vida, y la tengan en abundancia.
