⁵Thus says the Lord concerning the prophets
  who lead my people astray,
 who cry “Peace”
  when they have something to eat,
 but declare war against those
  who put nothing into their mouths.
⁶Therefore it shall be night to you, without vision,
  and darkness to you, without revelation.
 The sun shall go down upon the prophets,
  and the day shall be black over them;
⁷the seers shall be disgraced,
  and the diviners put to shame;
 they shall all cover their lips,
  for there is no answer from God.
⁸But as for me, I am filled with power,
  with the spirit of the Lord,
  and with justice and might,
 to declare to Jacob his transgression
  and to Israel his sin.

⁹Hear this, you rulers of the house of Jacob
  and chiefs of the house of Israel,
 who abhor justice
  and pervert all equity,
¹⁰who build Zion with blood
  and Jerusalem with wrong!
¹¹Its rulers give judgment for a bribe,
  its priests teach for a price,
  its prophets give oracles for money;
 yet they lean upon the Lord and say,
  “Surely the Lord is with us!
  No harm shall come upon us.”
¹²Therefore because of you
  Zion shall be plowed as a field;
 Jerusalem shall become a heap of ruins,
  and the mountain of the house a wooded height.

⁵ Esto es lo que dice el Señor contra ustedes,
    profetas que descarrían a mi pueblo:

«Con el estómago lleno, invitan a la paz;
    con el vientre vacío, declaran la guerra.
⁶ Por tanto, tendrán noches sin visiones,
    oscuridad sin presagios».

El sol se ocultará de estos profetas;
    ¡el día se les volverá tinieblas!
⁷ Los videntes quedarán en vergüenza;
    los adivinos serán humillados.
Dios les tapará la boca,
    pues no les dará respuesta.
⁸ Yo, en cambio, estoy lleno de poder,
    lleno del Espíritu del Señor,
    y lleno de justicia y de fuerza,
para echarle en cara a Jacob su delito;
    para reprocharle a Israel su pecado.

⁹ Escuchen esto ustedes,
    gobernantes del pueblo de Jacob,
y autoridades del reino de Israel,
    que abominan la justicia y tuercen el derecho,
¹⁰ que edifican a Sión con sangre
    y a Jerusalén con injusticia.
¹¹ Sus gobernantes juzgan por soborno,
    sus sacerdotes instruyen por paga,
    y sus profetas predicen por dinero;
para colmo, se apoyan en el Señor, diciendo:
    «¿No está el Señor entre nosotros?
    ¡No vendrá sobre nosotros ningún mal!»
¹² Por lo tanto, por culpa de ustedes
    Sión será como un campo arado;
Jerusalén quedará en ruinas,
    y el monte del templo se volverá un matorral.

¹Give judgment for me, O God, and defend my cause against an ungodly people;
  deliver me from the deceitful and the wicked.
 ²For you are the God of my strength; why have you rejected me,
  and why do I wander in such gloom while the enemy oppresses me? 
 ³Send out your light and your truth, that they may lead me,
  and bring me to your holy hill and to your sanctuary;
 ⁴that I may go to the altar of God, to the God of my joy and gladness;
  and on the harp I will give thanks to you, O God my God.
 ⁵Why are you so full of heaviness, O my soul, and why are you so disquieted within me?
  Put your trust in God, for I will yet give thanks to the one who is my help and my God. 

¡Hazme justicia, oh Dios!
    Defiende mi causa frente a esta nación impía;
    líbrame de gente mentirosa y perversa.
² Tú eres mi Dios y mi fortaleza:
    ¿Por qué me has rechazado?
¿Por qué debo andar de luto
    y oprimido por el enemigo?
³ Envía tu luz y tu verdad;
    que ellas me guíen a tu monte santo,
    que me lleven al lugar donde tú habitas.
⁴ Llegaré entonces al altar de Dios,
    del Dios de mi alegría y mi deleite,
y allí, oh Dios, mi Dios,
    te alabaré al son del arpa.

⁵ ¿Por qué voy a inquietarme?
    ¿Por qué me voy a angustiar?
En Dios pondré mi esperanza,
    y todavía lo alabaré.
    ¡Él es mi Salvador y mi Dios!

⁹You remember our labor and toil, brothers and sisters; we worked night and day, so that we might not burden any of you while we proclaimed to you the gospel of God. ¹⁰You are witnesses, and God also, how pure, upright, and blameless our conduct was toward you believers. ¹¹As you know, we dealt with each one of you like a father with his children, ¹²urging and encouraging you and pleading that you lead a life worthy of God, who calls you into his own kingdom and glory.
  ¹³We also constantly give thanks to God for this, that when you received the word of God that you heard from us, you accepted it not as a human word but as what it really is, God’s word, which is also at work in you believers.

⁹ Recordarán, hermanos, nuestros esfuerzos y fatigas para proclamarles el evangelio de Dios, y cómo trabajamos día y noche para no serles una carga.

¹⁰ Dios y ustedes me son testigos de que nos comportamos con ustedes los creyentes en una forma santa, justa e irreprochable. ¹¹ Saben también que a cada uno de ustedes lo hemos tratado como trata un padre a sus propios hijos. ¹² Los hemos animado, consolado y exhortado a llevar una vida digna de Dios, que los llama a su reino y a su gloria.

¹³ Así que no dejamos de dar gracias a Dios, porque al oír ustedes la palabra de Dios que les predicamos, la aceptaron no como palabra humana, sino como lo que realmente es, palabra de Dios, la cual actúa en ustedes los creyentes.

¹Jesus said to the crowds and to his disciples, ²“The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses’ seat; ³therefore, do whatever they teach you and follow it; but do not do as they do, for they do not practice what they teach. ⁴They tie up heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on the shoulders of others; but they themselves are unwilling to lift a finger to move them. ⁵They do all their deeds to be seen by others; for they make their phylacteries broad and their fringes long. ⁶They love to have the place of honor at banquets and the best seats in the synagogues, ⁷and to be greeted with respect in the marketplaces, and to have people call them rabbi. ⁸But you are not to be called rabbi, for you have one teacher, and you are all students. ⁹And call no one your father on earth, for you have one Father—the one in heaven. ¹⁰Nor are you to be called instructors, for you have one instructor, the Messiah. ¹¹The greatest among you will be your servant. ¹²All who exalt themselves will be humbled, and all who humble themselves will be exalted.”

Después de esto, Jesús dijo a la gente y a sus discípulos: ² «Los maestros de la ley y los fariseos tienen la responsabilidad de interpretar a Moisés. ³ Así que ustedes deben obedecerlos y hacer todo lo que les digan. Pero no hagan lo que hacen ellos, porque no practican lo que predican. ⁴ Atan cargas pesadas y las ponen sobre la espalda de los demás, pero ellos mismos no están dispuestos a mover ni un dedo para levantarlas.

⁵ »Todo lo hacen para que la gente los vea: Usan filacterias grandes y adornan sus ropas con borlas vistosas; ⁶ se mueren por el lugar de honor en los banquetes y los primeros asientos en las sinagogas, ⁷ y porque la gente los salude en las plazas y los llame “Rabí”.

⁸ »Pero no permitan que a ustedes se les llame “Rabí”, porque tienen un solo Maestro y todos ustedes son hermanos. ⁹ Y no llamen “padre” a nadie en la tierra, porque ustedes tienen un solo Padre, y él está en el cielo. ¹⁰ Ni permitan que los llamen “maestro”, porque tienen un solo Maestro, el Cristo. ¹¹ El más importante entre ustedes será siervo de los demás. ¹² Porque el que a sí mismo se enaltece será humillado, y el que se humilla será enaltecido.
